The short answer
Counterintuitive but verified: for several flagship excursions (Balos, Spinalonga, Santorini from Heraklion, guided Knossos), booking is CHEAPER — or delivers what you can't get alone. For others, it's a commission trap. This table settles it, figures on both sides, selling you nothing. We hold the other half of the equation: KTEL fares, official entries, weather thresholds.

Where we stand
We don't sell excursions: we answer « is it worth it? ». Most sites have an interest in saying yes, because they earn a commission. So do we, on some links — but only after showing you the maths, and never when the honest answer is « do it yourself » or « it's free ». The best advice isn't which box to tick on a platform: it's where and when to stumble on the real Crete, the one that isn't for sale.
