Crystal-clear water, sheer cliffs, wild goats. But also: an uninsured track, 3 parking spots, and 80 tourists arriving at 10:15am. We tell you everything — hour by hour.

Hour-by-hour breakdown
45-minute drive east towards the Akrotiri peninsula. Road D62 passes the airport — ignore the tourist signs, stay on D62 to the end.
Final kilometre on unpaved track: 15% gradient, hairpin bends with no safety barriers. Max 10 km/h. Standard rental car is physically possible but check your insurance.
This track is excluded from most rental agreements. If you break down or have an accident here, you are solely responsible. Read your contract before leaving.
A dirt turning area. Realistic capacity: 3 cars without blocking each other. In July–August, extra cars park on the track edge, blocking access.
After 9am in high season, not a single spot left. Budget 20 minutes extra on foot from the roadside if you arrive late.
20-minute descent on unstable limestone blocks. 80 m of elevation drop. No official markings — follow the footprints. Light hiking shoes are essential; flip-flops are a bad idea.
Small cove between two sheer cliffs. Water is absolutely clear (3–4 m visibility). Zero infrastructure: no toilets, no snack bar, no shade. Bring everything.
Drone filming crew was active on our visit. Check ENAC airspace restrictions if you have a drone — the area is classified as controlled airspace.
A Cretan kri-kri herd is regularly spotted on the east face at this hour. They come down to drink. Recommended minimum distance: 10 m. Do not feed them.
From 10:15am, organised tour groups arrive in waves. The beach (50 m wide) goes from 10 people to 80 in under 30 minutes. That's your cue to head back up.
The ascent is harder than the descent: 80 m of positive elevation in full sun. Allow 30 minutes and at least 1 L of water. At the parking, badly parked cars may block you in — wait or honk.
